Too much electricity threatens disruption in the UK

Too much renewable energy threatens grid disruption on one hand, but UK court approves largest gas powered electrical plant on the other! What gives ? Renewables are not a steady source of energy and the grid has not been adapted for their distributed electrical production. When you read about renewables having a lower cost of energy than gas or nuclear you can bet that the cost of rebuilding the grid hasn't been accounted for. Therefore the UK still requires stable and predictable energy supply. Renewables need a systemic plan for inclusion in the energy equation and not simply a haphazard response to political pressure from well meaning but misinformed environmentalists.
