"Like Trash in a Landfill" CO2 continues to rise
The information we posted last month is further confirmed: CO2 concentration in the atmosphere continued to rise even during confinement.
“People may be surprised to hear that the response to the coronavirus outbreak hasn’t done more to influence CO2 levels,” said Ralph Keeling, a geochemist who runs the Scripps Oceanography CO2 program. The project, begun by his father, Charles D. Keeling, has been taking readings since 1958 at a NOAA observatory on Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii.
Whatever we have been doing to fight climate change over the last ten years, whatever hundreds of billions dollars we have thrown at the problem, isn't even noticeable on the ultimate measure of effectiveness. It's like giving an aspirin to a cancer patient. We urgently need a complete rethink.
